velobirmingham-update : Sunday 24 September

Email from velobirmingham reads:

We have a crossing point for vehicles from Low Habberley to Habberley Road, crossing the cycling route which goes along Habberley Lane (B4190). This allows vehicles to cross the route ahead of the first cyclist coming through, and immediately after the last cyclist. This crossing point will be managed by marshals, and is open until 0845 AM latest, and will reopen from 1345PM.

Laser Open 2017

On a wet, blustery day, seventeen Lasers sailed in the Trimpley 2017 Laser Open. There were six visitors and eleven home sailors. John Ling from Bartley Green won all three races and took the title from R. Pratt sailing as RYA. Andy Allan and Paul Powell were equal third after two races, with Andy taking the 3rd place by beating Paul in the final race. Congratulations to Craig Chadderton who despite being at the back of the fleet showed great perseverance to finish all three races in testing conditions. There were a number of “controlled” capsizes by sailors who shall remain nameless – just check the photos ! Thanks to Linda and her galley workers for the usual excellent food ; to the safety crew and to Norman Quarry and his team for running the races with such aplomb ! More photos to follow.
