Easter Pennants 2018
Eleven boats took part in the Easter Pennants trophy which was raced for on 2 April.
Three GPs raced for the trophy which was won by Simon Fletcher and daughter Amy from Ben Roberts and Keith Budden , with Jonathan Websdell and John Cookson in third place.
In the Laser class Andy Allan took the first race but Paul Powell then won the second and third races and won the trophy overall. In the Main series Andy Allan came in second and Ian Davies took third place.
Craig Chadderton came a creditable 2= in the Handicap race with Andy Allan which was won by Paul Powell.
Stuart Morton in his Solo won the Menageries class from Matthew Chadderton and Helen Chadderton.
Thanks to the race crew. Good to see Jeff Halford back at the club
Alison Young – UK Laser Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Alison Young who has been inducted into the UK Laser Hall of Fame.
The citation reads ” In recognition of outstanding achievement in the Laser class ”
Well done also to Keith and Pat Young for their outstanding support.
Best wishes from everyone at Trimpley Sailing Club
J.B.Smith Trophy
Despite taking an unintended dip in very cold water during a roll tack, Ralph Webb and his crew Mik Neville comfortably won the J.B.Smith Trophy.
Three GPs and two Lasers fought it out in this two hour race in light winds which gradually fell away as the race went on.
Peter John and his crew Jonathan Websdell came in second and Steve Parsons and Sara Wood retired as the wind disappeared late in the race. It didn’t help Steve’s efforts that he had to rapidly change boats, before the race started, when his own developed a major fault.
In the Laser class there was a good, tight race between Phil Pimble and Simon Challand and it was only in the late stages that Phil pulled away and Simon retired as the wind fell to nothing.
Thanks to all the race crew for their efforts.

Sunday Racing Cancelled March 18 th
Dear members. the Commodore has made the sensible decision to cancel racing this Sunday due to the continuing yellow weather warnings for the local area, which may greatly affect the access to the club due to our location for both members and emergency services. The extreme cold conditions compromise the safety of mixed ability sailors and the attending crew. We apologise for the disruption and hope you all understand the reasons for the decision.
Easter Day ( Sunday 1, April ) Free Sailing
PLEASE NOTE There will be no racing on Sunday 1 April as it is Easter Day.
